Registration: 16 Members and Guests

Coffee/Tea and Registration.

Welcome and introductions: The Deputy Head Paul Norman welcomed all present and gave a brief talk
regarding the school. Alan Cooper Chairman of AROPS added his own welcome and outlined the activities of
AROPS and then introduced Polly Rumbold Head of Development, Alumni Relations at Surbiton High School for
a presentation.

Polly Rumbold:
• Time to get our ducks in order.
• Time to converse and discuss.
• Surbiton High School has 1500 students and 400 staff.
• 6200 Alumni members so vast database
• Online and Digital ways of connecting important.
• Generation Alpha no mobile phone to Generation X very tech proficient
• Communication requires Emotional content and personalisation
• Use of Digital, Social and Global Media important
• The power of influencers cannot be underestimated
• Google digital tools should be used
• 1500 Plastic Ducks in school colours given to school leavers
• Invite Guest Speakers, mentors, teachers and parents for talks and engagement
• SHS has 15 students on bursaries
• University “buddies” at various universities help engagement
• Charity Support of overseas projects
• September have prep school photos
• PA Committee membership coordinator with Alumni important

A Short general discussion among members then followed by refreshments.
The Chair thanked Royal School Haslemere Surrey for hosting the meeting and those present for attending.

Some Members then attended a tour of the school.

The meeting ended at 1500.
