King's Rochester Update

Welcome to our online community with King's and ORs news and events. Further information is on our website www.oldroffensiansociety.com

or please contact msnoswell@kings-rochester.co.uk

Dear Old Roffensians and Friends,

As I look out from my office window in Satis, watching the leaves begin to fall, it's unmistakably clear—autumn has arrived.

This change in season also brings a moment of reflection on what has been a particularly busy and rewarding two months for the School. From hosting Commemoration Day and Dinner to holding a range of sporting fixtures on the Rugby and Cricket Fields, it's been a vibrant and fulfilling time for the KSR community.

Commemoration Day – A Celebration of Firsts

Our recent Commemoration Day was a milestone event, full of memorable firsts:

  • The community’s first opportunity to meet our new Principal
  • A debut for our new catering team
  • And, for the first time in over 25 years, we proudly opened refurbished academic and sports facilities
  • All of this took place under glorious Kentish sunshine, with a wonderful turnout—including a large group of 1985 leavers. It was a day of enjoyment and celebration.

A Special Evening: Dinner with ORs & ROCA

The combined Annual  Dinner in School Hall—hosted with the Old Roffensians (ORs) and ROCA—was a truly splendid affair.

New friendships were formed, old ones rekindled, and we also had the joy of celebrating a very special milestone: the 90th birthday of our President, Tom Gurney. A remarkable evening indeed.

Looking Ahead: Remembrance & Carols

As the year winds down, we now look forward to two of the more formal yet deeply significant events in our calendar:

  • Remembrance Day Service – 11 November
  • Christmas Carol Service – 12 December

Details for both events can be found below—we warmly invite you to join us in celebrating and remembering.

Gifts, Merchandise & Festive Fundraising

Though it may feel early to mention Christmas, now is the perfect time to explore our gifts and fundraising items. These make for thoughtful, unique presents and directly support the School.

Our collection includes:

  • Books on the history of King’s and this includes a new book on Cricket at KSR
  • Stylish regalia clothing
  • Alcoholic treats to toast the season

More details at

All proceeds help us continue enhancing the School experience for current and future students.

Support the Future of King’s

King’s is progressing with strength and vision—but we continue to rely on the generosity of our community. Your support can help us:

  • Improve and expand our facilities
  • Provide life-changing opportunities to talented children who might not otherwise attend KSR

If you're able to offer support, please contact me.
