Our Mission statement above tells you what this School is all about, as we work with each pupil through her teenage years to provide the best possible start to her life’s journey: this is our constant inspiration, joy and privilege.
We provide an innovative and excellent education for girls aged 11-18, bespoke to each person and rooted in our lifelong goal to ‘educate the whole person’, an aim which has been the School’s stated calling since its foundation by the RCE sisters in 1889, long before this became a fashionable phrase.
We know and nurture our pupils individually, which is why our value-added scores in public examinations are consistently the best in Hampshire. We challenge and support all our girls, developing their individual talents and interests and providing opportunities for them to explore new activities and new ways of learning, encouraging everyone to ‘find their spark’. Our girls aspire to excellence throughout their Farnborough Hill adventure and come to learn that faith, community, kindness, service, resilience and creativity are all essential elements to support that journey.
At the heart of the School lies our beautiful Chapel, where we gather regularly for Assembly, Mass and major School occasions. Encouraging spiritual growth is an important part of the school’s work and we welcome equally girls of all faiths and secular backgrounds into our inclusive family. Learning to be comfortable with silence, to be alive to our spiritual selves and to grow in our relationship with God is a rare gift in today’s fast-paced educational world.
Our academic and co-curricular programmes, led by a team of passionate and committed staff, are both rigorous and unique to Farnborough Hill. All girls are expected to take part in co-curricular enrichment and opportunities for leadership arise as the girls move up through the School. Expect to be keeping bees, debating global issues, making pots, cooking as a Masterchef, designing and building a green-powered car, singing madrigals or playing in a band, working with refugees, starring in a stage production, honing your spin bowling – and over a hundred other transformational possibilities.
It has been my great pleasure to meet many former Farnborough Hill students and they are a powerful testament to the character of what we do here: strong in their well-informed opinions and with a keen sense of justice, passionate in their support of each other, wholeheartedly committed to making a difference in the world, whatever their sphere of work, and with a boundless sense of energy and fun.
We hope that you will soon want to come and see for yourself what makes us such an exciting place to be. We very much look forward to welcoming you to the Hill.
