Two Sixth Formers Shortlisted for Prestigious John Locke Institute Economics Essay Competition

We are proud to announce a remarkable achievement from our Sixth Form – two of our Year 13 students, Feargus C (Head Boy) and Sophie Z, have been shortlisted for the world-renowned John Locke Institute Economics Essay Competition, a joint initiative with Oxford and Princeton universities.

The competition is one of the most respected international essay challenges, attracting around 64,000 entries worldwide from some of the brightest young minds across the globe. For one student to reach the shortlist is an honour in itself; to have two students recognised from the same school underlines the exceptional talent of our Sixth Formers.

Entrants were asked to choose from three challenging essay questions. Both Feargus and Sophie opted for the highly topical issue:

“What will be the effect on socio-economic mobility of the UK government’s plan to impose value added tax on school fees?”
