The West Monmouth Scholarship Award is a unique bursary created to reconnect two historic schools: Haberdashers’ Monmouth School and West Monmouth School.
This long-standing relationship dates back to the early 17th century. Thanks to William Jones’ generous donations to the Haberdashers’ Company, Monmouth School for Boys opened in 1614. Later, in 1898, West Monmouth School was established as a boys’ grammar school. Although the schools grew apart after West Monmouth became a County Grammar School in 1954, they continued to share a common identity – reflected in their emblem and values.
In 2022, this connection was revived through the launch of the West Mon Award, a bursary that supports up to 10 West Monmouth students each year as they join the Sixth Form at Haberdashers’ Monmouth School.
