Carleton House is a Catholic preparatory school in Liverpool, established by a group of parents in 1975. With a school motto of ‘they can because they think they can’, it is a place of growth, discovery, and celebration.
Carleton Mouse and the Hollow House, which launches on Amazon on 27th June 2025, is the product of an exciting collaboration between two Carleton House parents, local author Helen Yoxall Burns and local illustrator, Dr. Jared Burki. Their third book forms part of The Carleton Mouse Book Series – Empowering Our Children. Centred around Carleton Mouse and his furry friend Bluebell the bee, it tells an action-packed, heartfelt, and engaging story of the history of the school, when it was established in 1975.
Following the success of their debut picture book, Carleton’s Motto Saves the Grotto, in November 2022, and its prequel, Carleton and the Christmas Grump, in December 2023, Helen Yoxall Burns and Jared Burki have joined forces once again to launch a third book in the Carleton Mouse series. The series, aimed at empowering children during the trials and tribulations of growing up, is themed around overcoming obstacles and becoming stronger and more confident in navigating childhood.
